The recent acquisition of Hagans Lane Heathcote was quite by accident, largely inspired (and coaxed) by the passion and vision of John and Clare’s sons, who thought the idea of another farm seemed like a good (and manageable) one!

At first glance, Hagans Lane Heathcote offered something a little different to Swan Bay Farm, and not only because of the world class, award winning wines that have been discovered in one of Victoria’s most iconic wine regions.

Hagans Lane Heathcote ticked the boxes for John and Clare.  The unique, mineral rich 500 million year old Cambrian soils were an obvious draw card.  To think of what could be produced with such amazing soils boggled the brain!  The five acres of award winning Shiraz vines certainly enticed the palette and the views towards Mount Camel without a doubt nurtured the mind, body and soul.

Hagans Lane Heathcote marks the next logical step in John and Clare’s ethical culinary and farming journey. Less than 2 hours from Melbourne, it’s an ideal destination for people to come and experience the stunning countryside, whilst enjoying great food and exception wine, as well as having a place to rest the satiated body and invigorated mind.

John and Clare love to share their story with others, in order to inspire others to gain more knowledge about farming and its challenges and rewards, all in an effort to encourage positive change in the way we approach, engage and celebrate food.

Hagans Lane Heathcote is also the home of Maladorn Dorpers – the family’s Dorper sheep business, ethically rearing stud and commercial Dorper and White Dorper sheep, as well as providing a superior reared product for the restaurant market and farm-gate visitor.
