Swan Bay Farm is the perfect place to experience the Australian rural outdoors on a real working farm, whilst learning about the value and importance of ethical and sustainable farming practices and, in particular, where our food comes from.
Our tours cater for all kids from kinder to Year 9 and provide your students with an authentic, hands-on learning experience. It’s one of the most natural and engaging education experiences available outside a classroom.
Encouraging kids to get outdoors and connect with their natural world is imperative for their ongoing physical and mental health and wellbeing. Today’s kids (tomorrow’s leaders) benefit in gaining a deeper insight into where our food comes from and how current farming and food production practices impact on our own health, and the health of our wonderful planet.
At Swan Bay Farm, the children will learn about different farm animal breeds (and why we have the animals we do), see first hand how a working farm is run and gain an insight into the importance of finding the right balance between farming and the environment.
Our farm tours can be tailored to suit your school’s specific curriculum needs, ensuring that our age-specific programs engage the children to ensure their enjoyment throughout the learning process. Our programs are designed to encourage kids to better understand where food comes from, to learn about the impact of the seasons for farming and food growing, and to appreciate the efforts behind sustainable farming practices and food production.
With the Bellarine Peninsula’s largest heirloom apple orchard, dozens of different fruit tree varieties, a paddock dedicated to vegetables and an eclectic mix of farm animals, Swan Bay Farm’s school tours are designed to educate, entertain and inspire food for thought, as well as encourage ongoing learning and discussion back in the classroom.
